Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand the experience fo clinical practice among male nursing students.

Methods: The experiences were explored through in-depth interview with 12 male nursing students who have been in the third or forth grade in college. The analysis of the data was made by phenomenological analytic method suggested by Colaizzi(1978).

Results: In this study, about 80 significant statements were extracted and these were clustered into 4 main categories: male nurses are limited , it s mentally difficult , recognizing the maleness , it s possible to forming amicable relationship .
Conclusion: The result of this study showed that male nursing students are variously difficult to clinical practice. Therefore it needs in-depth research about psychological adaptive process to reduce burnout and prevent loss of employment of male nursing students.
